Research and Scholarship

“The more I live, the more I learn. The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.”
Michel Legrand
When I began in the doctoral program, I was hesitant about the tenets of research and scholarship. I had no concept about how to approach research and scholarship, but as I progressed through the program, a love for research and scholarship developed. This has been an experience that has broadened my scope about this aspect of being a counselor educator. I now have the necessary tools, an appreciation, and a zeal to listen to the stories beneath the data, in order to better comprehend the soul of the lived, human experience. I seek truth not just to inform but also to inspire and empower.
Today, I view research and scholarship as vital expressions of leadership, curiosity, and service. Through systematic inquiry and reflective practice, we illuminate the experiences that shape human growth and healing. My scholarship is guided by ethical integrity, cultural humility, and a commitment to advancing equity within the counseling profession. In bridging research with practice, I strive to produce work that not only informs theory but also transforms lives and strengthens communities.
